Indivisible is a grassroots political organization in the United States that focuses on civic engagement, advocacy, and influencing public policy. It was founded in 2016 by former Congressional staffers following the first election of Donald Trump. The group initially gained attention through the "Indivisible Guide," a document that encourages ordinary citizens to organize locally and apply pressure on elected officials, particularly members of Congress.
The organization's core mission is to promote what it describes as progressive values, including expanded access to healthcare, voting rights, protections, and policies addressing climate change. Indivisible operates through a network of local chapters across the country, each of which organizes events, town hall participation and direct outreach to representatives. These decentralized groups allow individuals to become politically active at the community level while contributing to a broader national movement.
Indivisible has played a visible role in mobilizing voters, supporting candidates and advocating for specific legislation. Supporters view it as an effective tool for democratic participation and civic action. In essence, Indivisible represents a modern example of grassroots political organizations aimed at shaping government policy through citizen involvement.
